Have you lost one or more teeth? Do you have dentures and wish they were more stable? Is it hard to smile because of gaps in your smile? If you answered, “yes,” to any of these questions, you may be a candidate for a dental implant. Dental implants are a revolutionary new technology designed to replace your entire tooth, from the root below the gum line to the crown above it. A surgical process that is completed over the course of three to six months, our dentists will generally follow these measures:
- First, the actual dental implant, a thin metal post, is surgically placed into your jaw. The dental implant will act as your new tooth root.
- Once your gums have healed and the dental implant has fused to the bone, we will attach an abutment. An abutment is a connector post that helps hold the new tooth.
- Your new dental restoration will be permanently attached to the abutment and your restored smile will be ready.
Dental implants can also be used to stabilize dentures, eliminating any embarrassing slipping and discomfort.
