As an adult, it’s easy to put off – or completely forget – to go to the dentist. After all, squeezing that appointment into your busy schedule isn’t the easiest thing when you’re juggling a job and the rest of whatever life throws at you.

However, it’s important to remember that regular dental checkups aren’t just for kids to make sure they remember to brush. Adults need them too, and Dr. Michael Spencer recommends you visit Riverside Dental at least every six months to maintain optimal oral health.

Deep cleaning you can’t do at home

By far the most prevalent reason to visit the dentist is that your teeth will be cleaned on a deeper level than anything you can accomplish at home. If you don’t have an electric toothbrush – one that cleans your teeth in a circular motion, as opposed to traditional brushes – you’re not cleaning as effectively as you could be. This is just one of many things our team can do at our office in Jacksonville, Florida to help improve your oral health.

This is perhaps the most important part of your dental visit. Over time, plaque builds up around your gum line. This plaque, if left untreated, will harden into tartar. If that tartar isn’t removed, it’ll cause gingivitis, which is a mild form of gum disease.
