Barrett Tolley, DDS
Dr. Tolley is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS). He maintains the highest accreditation and is committed to lifelong learning, keeping current in knowledge and skills, and practicing in a safe and contemporary manner.
In 1997, Barrett R. Tolley earned his undergraduate degree in Biology Magna Cum Laude at Florida State University. He then continued his family’s legacy to become a fourth generation graduate of the University of Maryland/Baltimore College of Dental Surgery (which is actually the world’s first Dental School) receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (DDS) in 2002.
Following dental school, Dr. Tolley moved on to Jacksonville, Florida where he completed a rigorous four (4) year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Florida/Shands Jacksonville. Through this residency he received extensive training in all aspects of contemporary Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery including Maxillofacial Trauma/Reconstruction, Head and Neck Oncology/Pathology, Temporomandibular Joint Surgery, Dental Implant Surgery, Facial Aesthetic Surgery, Traditional Oral Surgery, and IV Sedation/General Anesthesia.
UF/Shands Jacksonville is also a Level 1 Trauma Center. Residents are exposed and trained in the art and care of the Maxillofacial Trauma.
All of this extensive, specialized training and experience in facial, oral, and jaw reconstruction surgery of trauma patients is why Dr. Spencer ultimately chose Dr. Tolley to be the oral surgeon at Riverside Dental. Because with all of his knowledge and experience, he is uniquely qualified to ensure the safety of our patients during surgery, and provide the highest quality care, and highest possible success rate for all of our full arch dental implant patients.

Following his residency, Dr. Tolley completed a one year associate position in Lakeland, Florida and then decided to open a practice in Tallahassee. The development of the trauma center at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital was pivotal in Dr. Tolley’s decision to return to the Tallahassee area. His kinship with FSU also encouraged his return to the state’s capital.
In 2007 with the support of Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, Dr. Tolley founded the Oral and Facial Surgery Center of Tallahassee, where he is also currently affiliated with Capital Regional Medical Center performing oral trauma surgery and treating dental emergencies.
As a part of his lifelong commitment to practicing the most current and advanced procedures and to help our patients overcome the effect of severe decay and periodontal disease, Dr Tolley received extensive training in full mouth implant supported teeth. “I enjoy helping those who have lost their smile, and their ability to chew to get their life back, begin eating the foods they love again, laugh, smile, and just get back to enjoying their lives. I’ve come to Riverside Dental to lead the surgery team in full mouth implant restorations with our certified nurse anesthetist, Irene, and assistants Rachel and Jamie. Dr. Spencer and I share the same vision, and our world class team believes in challenging ourselves to provide the highest quality dental care possible, treating all of our patients the way we would want to be treated, with compassion, empathy, and understanding.”
Outside of practicing Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Tolley loves the baseball, hunting, fishing, and pretty much anything outdoors, particularly taking out his boat for fishing trips, and hanging out with his fellow Riverside Dental team member, Dr. Kyle Cross.
Dr. Tolley currently performs surgery for our patients on Monday and Tuesday, so call us @ (904) 561-5999 if you would like to schedule your free consultation on one of those days for a chance to meet him.
